Foreign Object Elimination

The NCATT Foreign Object Elimination (FOE) – Elements of Basic Awareness certification was initiated by Lockheed Martin Space Systems. They came to NCATT with a vision of standardizing FOE training at an awareness level to begin cultivating a consistent FOE culture throughout the aerospace industry. NCATT worked with subject matter experts from across the industry and helped them to develop a standard for basic awareness that incorporates NAS 412.
These standards have now been presented as part of the ARAC for recommended changes to FAA Part 147 schools. These elements are included in revisions for the general section.
This certification is applicable to all areas of the Aerospace industry to include personnel outside of the technical field. Foreign Object Damage (FOD) is a 4 – 6 billion dollar loss to the industry each year and by raising awareness and cultivating a pro-active FOE culture these losses can be drastically reduced.

* Passing grade for the FOE - Elements of Basic Awareness is 85%
